Renman's car update

Post by renman on Mon Mar 31, 2008 9:12 am

Hey guys,

Last week, I finally got the passenger side axle out. The key I found was just to remove the bracket, and slide the whole assembly out.

So I was finally able to put on the suspension, wheel and drop it. Swapped some plates and took it for a spin. It started right up, and sounded great next to my Sunfire. When I drove it, I realized how much better this car is than the Sunfire.

It's nice to have that perspective. I took some pics:

It's still in the garage, as I'm still finishing up stuff, but it's pretty much ready for the road, pending the e-test.

Thanks Hoss! How's the tire deal working out?

Thanks Zub. I actually went with thinner tires (215) for the slight stretch for clearance purposes in case I went all out and put this sucker on bags.

Nice Renny! I'm liking the choice of wheels, lower profile tires & drop. It really takes years off the look of her.

One thing I love about the i30's is the chrome trim that wraps around the body. It looks very Benz-ish.

Renny, do you notice a huge difference in ride and/or performance with the new wheels?

Thanks guys.

Nathan, I only notice that the car feels TONS better than Sunfire, because I'm going straight from the sunfire to these rims and tires. After driving a winter beater for so long, it is a pleasant feeling to go back to this car.

Definitely firmer, and I'm watching for big potholes, but on regular Ajax streets, I don't have a problem. Part of that is the K-sports, and part of that is the 35 series tire at 44 psi (for the stretch.)

Renny that has to be one of the nicest I30's I've seen to date! Good work. I'd go with a standard tint though over the chrome fade to give it a cleaner look IMO but good work on the car!!!!!

I also think it would look even better with regular black tint.

Since when do you live in Ajax? Is that where you moved?

Looks great Ren. I was going to mention possible tint change as well yesterday, and then didn't want to rain on the parade, but seeing as the others have mentioned it lol...

I imagine going from the Sunfire to the i30 has one other big advantage. That be thar engine matey arr pirat

Thanks Kevin, how's your car looking these days?

Hahha I've gotten flack about the tint from the rest of the interweb as well, no hard feelings!

Nate, I moved to Ajax in August just before getting married, so it's been a few months Wink

Hadman, thar engine is big bonus, arggggg
